Notice to Contractors and Homeowners
The Town of Hudson is now requiring an 'Energy Compliance Certificate" as part of the requirements to show compliance with 2018 International Energy Conservation Code. The certificate will be required on all new residential permits as of May of 2022. Along with the certificate form, leak test reports for Ductwork and Building Envelope will be required. The Certificate form will be provided with approved documents and will also be available on Town of Berthoud Building department website and Procode website for download. Testing reports and certificate should be completed and available to the inspector during Final Inspections and will required prior to Certificate of Occupancy. The Town of Hudson has adopted by reference (with amendments) the International Building Code, 2018 edition; The International Residential Code, 2018 edition; The International Fuel Gas Code, 2018 edition; The International Plumbing Code, 2018 edition; The International Mechanical Code, 2018 edition; The International Existing Building Code, 2018 edition; The International Property Maintenance Code, 2018 edition; The International Swimming Pool and Spa code, 2018 edition; and The International Energy Conservation Code, 2012 edition; promulgated by the international code council. Chapter 18 of the Hudson Municipal Code provides the building codes as well as any associated amendments thereto, as adopted by the Town.

Please refer to ‘When is a permit required?’ for more details on work that requires permits. Fees are due after the review is complete and prior to permit issuance. Fees are updated annually, see Building Permit Fees Handout, and the full fee schedule as well as submittal requirements can be found on the Permits & Licenses page.
Over-the-counter permits may be issued within 2 days of submission, while building permits requiring plan review could take 1-2 weeks before the first review is completed, and subsequent reviews could take an additional 1-2 weeks per review. Once the Plan Reviewer has approved the permit, the applicant is required to pay the permit fees in order for the Town to issue the permit.
Over-the-Counter Permits may include:
- Sanitary sewer and water repairs*
- Furnace
- HVAC
- Water heater
- Re-roofs
*Work in the Right of Way requires a separate Right Of Way Permit, see the Permits & Licenses page for application information.
NO WORK MAY BEGIN UNTIL THE PERMIT IS ISSUED BY TOWN HALL.
