I-76 Corridor Economic Development Initiative
The I-76 Corridor Economic Development Initiative is a collaborative effort between representatives of the towns of Hudson, Keenesburg, and Lochbuie; local educational institutions, utilities and private sector businesses. Upstate Colorado Economic Development is facilitating the planning effort. The goal is to construct a strategic plan for economic development that is consistent with the opportunities, assets and resources available to the region, and thereby to strengthen the local economy and raise per capita incomes.
Beginning in August 2010, meetings have been conducted on a regular basis. A Steering Committee comprised of members representing each of the towns, educational institutions, utilities, and major private sector employers within southeast Weld County were identified. The Steering Committee has been responsible for developing a plan that outlines realistic expectations, goals, objectives and strategies that will result in a stronger local economy for the I-76 corridor region.
